Saint George's girls soccer team's relentless offense overwhelmed Liberty Bell for a 4-1 victory in the State Semifinals on Friday, Nov. 16.  Cambrie Rickard had two scores, with additional goals from Lydia Bergquist and Grace Harrill.  The first two goals were off corner kicks by Maddy Christiansen, putting the Dragons up 2-0 at the half.  The Dragons will play the winner of the other semifinal between Kalama and Adna in the State Championship Game at 2pm on Saturday, Nov. 17 at Sunset Chev Stadium in Sumner, WA.  This marks the third straight year the SGS girls soccer team has played in the State title game; they won State in 2016 and finished 2nd last year.

Saint George's girls soccer team defeated Northwest Christian 4-0 on Oct. 29 to take the District Championship.  See a Photo Gallery of shots from that game taken by Bob Jones.  The Dragons advance to the State Quarterfinals on Saturday, Nov. 10 when they will host NWC in a rematch at 10:30am.  The winner of that game advances to the State Semifinals in Sumner on Friday, Nov. 16 at 2pm -- see the WIAA Tournament Bracket for more details.

The SGS Dragons boys soccer team ended their season with a 3-0 loss at Prescott in the first round of Playoffs on Oct. 30.  Prescott went on to win the regional championship over Riverside Christian.  The SGS team finished with an overall record of 9-6-2.  This marked the first time in four years that the Dragons have not played in the state championship game.  For one more look at the boys team in action, see the Photo Gallery from their 1-1 tie game against Stillwater Christian earlier in October. 

Senior Jora Gleason finished 10th overall at the State 1B/2B Cross Country Championships at Pasco's Sun Willows Golf Course on Saturday, Nov. 3.  Jora finished the 5,000 meter course with a time of 20:33.2.  Also finishing the girls race were Maggie McLaughlin (29th overall), Audrey Harrill (44th), and Kahlysta McKethen (81st).  In the boys race, senior Kai Jacobs was the top Dragon, finishing 60th overall in a time of 18:19.4.  Running with Kai were Hunter Johnson (98th) and Finley Wolff (109th).  Congratulations to all seven Dragon runners on a great season!

After defeating Davenport 3-0 on Oct. 27 in the first round of the playoffs, the SGS girls soccer team will play on Tuesday, October 30 at 3pm at Northwest Christian.  The winner will be the District Champion and the #1 seed for a "winner to state / loser out" game on Saturday, November 3.  

The boys varsity soccer team lost to Prescott 1-0 on Oct. 27, leading to a "winner to state / loser out" rematch at Prescott on Tuesday, October 30 at 2pm.  The winner of that match advances to the Sub-Regional Championship to be played on Nov. 2 or 3.  Both teams in that game advance to state.  Go Dragons

SGS junior Kathryn Moon swam in the Idaho High School Districts I & II Championship Swim Meet on Saturday, October 27.  She swam qualifying times in all four of her events -- the individual 200 Freestyle & 100 Butterfly events and the 200 Freestyle Relay & the 400 Freestyle Relay.  Kathryn will be competing as a member of the Coeur d'Alene High School team at the Idaho High School Swimming State Championships Meet to be held in Boise, ID on November 2-3.  Congratulations, Kathryn!

Saint George's varsity boys soccer team has won the State Academic Championship for 2B size schools.  The 16-member team's average GPA this fall is 3.517.  Kudos as well to the girls varsity volleyball team, whose average GPA of over 3.8 is one of the highest in the state.  Go Dragons!

SGS cross country runners Jora Gleason, Kahlysta McKethen, Audrey Harrill, Maggie McLaughlin, Hunter Johnson, Kai Jacobs, and Finley Wolff all qualified for the 2B State Cross Country Championships in Pasco on Saturday, Nov. 3.  Go Dragons!

The SGS Boys Soccer JV team faced a team of SGS alumni and coaches on Saturday, Oct. 20.  See a Photo Gallery of that fun contest between energy and experience!

Spokane Chiefs Hockey's School Night offers $7 tickets to students, family and friends of SGS for their Saturday, October 27 game at 7pm in the Spokane Arena.  Come early for the Bavarian-themed HOCKtoberfest food, drink and activities starting at 4pm.  See the School Night Flyer on the website for info on how to order tickets.
