Saint George's boys' and girls' tennis teams each earned District titles on May 15. On the girls' team, individual honors went to Lauren Senske (1st in Singles), Grace Generous and Karey Jiang (3rd in Doubles), and Mary Bade and Maria Madero (4th in Doubles). The boys' team honors included Nik Chaudhry (1st in Singles), Daniel Zhao (2nd in Singles), Adam Hasdorff and Brett Coles (2nd in Doubles), and Sean Yao and Daniel Cao (3rd in Doubles). All of them are playing at Regionals on May 18-19. Go Dragons!

The Dragons lost a tough 5-3 game to Brewster in the first round of Regionals in Yakima on May 19. Senior Alex Watkins took the loss on the mound, but went 3 for 3 with a double, a run, and an RBI at the plate. The team finished with a 17-6 record. Congratulations on a strong season!
Saint George's boys' tennis team has won the state academic championship for 2B schools. Their average grade point was 3.683, which gets SGS one step closer to winning the Scholastic Cup for best overall athletic and academic 2B school in the state. Congratulations to these scholar athletes!
SGS senior Lauren Senske finished 1st in girls singles at the Eastern Regional Tennis competition on May 18-19. She will be competing at State on May 25-26 in Yakima. Congratulations, Lauren!
Saint George's girls' track team captured 2nd overall at the NE 2B District 7 Championships on May 18-19. Ashley Sande won the 100 meters (12.64 seconds), the 200 meters (25.85 seconds), and the 400 meters (57.16 seconds - a Personal Record)! The Dragons also won the 4x200 meter relay (Kate Tender, Cambrie Rickard, Grace Harrill, Reagan Ivey) and the 4x400 meter relay (Cambrie Rickard, Grace Harrill, Reagan Ivey, Ashley Sande). Kudos also go to Reagan Ivey (5th - PR) and Cambrie Rickard (6th - PR) in the 400 meter race; to Grace Harrill (3rd - PR), Jora Gleason (5th - PR), and Audrey Harrill (6th - PR) in the 800 meters; Mary Neder who was 4th in the 1600 meter and 3200 meter races; Kate Tender (4th - PR) in the 300 meter hurdles and (5th - PR) in long jump; Cate Caporicci (4th) in shot put; Mia Smith (2nd) and Olivia Osborne (7th) in javelin; Taylor Sande (4th - PR) in triple jump and long jump; Izzy Boring (9th) in high jump; and Taylor, Cambrie, Grace, and Kate (2nd) in the 4x100 relay.
The boys' track team finished 5th at the District 7 Championships. Mitchell Ward won the 400 meters (50.99 seconds) and anchored the winning 4x400 meter relay team (Marcus Manson, Ryan Hayes, Dan Rigsby, and Mitchell Ward). Kudos as well to Dan Rigsby (2nd - PR) in the 800 meters; Cade Peplinski (2nd) in high jump and (7th) in 200 meters; Ryan Hayes (12th) and Marcus Manson (8th) in the 400 meters; Kai Jacobs (4th - PR) and Will Rieger (12th) in the 3200 meters; Oscar Angell (5th) and Chaitanya Nalluri (7th) in the 300 meter hurdles; and Noah Gallow (11th) in the high jump.
The top finishers move on to the 2B State Championships at EWU on May 24-26. Go Dragons!

Seven SGS golfers made the cut at the first day of the district tournament in Deer Park on May 7. Maddy Christiansen, Taylor Mitchell, Liv Senske, Michael McCarthy, Winston Poppel, Caleb Flegel, and Jacob Whitman all made the cut to play again on Monday, May 14 at Chewelah. Scores will be combined from the two days of districts. The top 14 girls and top 11 boys advance to the state tournament on May 21-23 at Hangman Valley Golf Course in Spokane.
"Seven is the most players we've ever had make the cut at districts," says coach Brad Kirsch. Maddy and Taylor have a good shot at making it to state, while Michael is tied for 11th and on the bubble for the state tournament. Congratulations, Dragon golfers, on a successful start to districts!
The Dragons baseball team will play in the District Playoffs at Medical Lake HS at 9am on Tuesday, May 8. This is a delay from the original date of Monday, May 7 at the same location...
