The Saint George’s School Alumni (SGSA) is excited to host a College and Career Panel this Wednesday, November 17 from 6:00 - 7:30pm in the Upper School.  This event is open to all 8th through 12th grade students and their families.  Hear from several recent SGS alumni about their college experience, their major and career selections, as well as other great insights.  There also will be a Q & A opportunity with the panel of speakers, including four who participated in the International Baccalaureate program at SGS:

TEDxSpokane celebrates its 10th year on Oct. 9, 2021, featuring 10 speakers with ideas worth sharing.  One of those speakers is Janet Mann '64, whose talk is titled, “People, Not Programs, Change People.”  With a focus on professionals and agencies that serve children and families in crisis, Janet emphasizes that a trusting relationship, not just information, is what inspires people to change.  TEDxSpokane still has virtual tickets available at the TEDxSpokane Website.

SGS alumna Lauren Meyer '08, who lives and works in South Australia, was recently awarded the South Australia Young Achiever Award In STEM sciences.  Lauren investigated the impacts of wildlife tourism for her PhD in biochemical ecology at Flinders University, particularly the effects of cage diving on white sharks.  Her work contributed to the implementation of new regulations and new tourism assessment frameworks used by the Department of Environment and Water.  She is also the co-founder of Otlet Research, a tissue sharing platform for researchers around the world.  Her dad David adds, "Thank you to SGS and it’s wonderful staff and teachers who inspired her."  See a short Facebook Video about Lauren's work from the South Australia Young Achiever's page.

Thank you to the 178 SGS students, families, staff, alumni and friends who participated in the SGS Virtual Fun Run May 16-17.  Congratulations to the overall division winners -- Mens: John DeForest, Peter Worrall, Spencer Hildie; Womens: Kala Reaves, Rachel Hildie, and Jill Anderson.  Dragons ran all over the globe -- Peter Worrall ran in Germany and Oscar Zhou in China!  Plus family, friends and alumni were running in Montana, Florida, Maine, Ohio, Arkansas, California, Michigan and Arizona, as well as across Washington state (Seattle, Chelan, Ephrata, Shoreline) and around the Spokane area.  See a Photo Gallery of runners from all over participating in the Virtual Fun Run!

S.M. (Sarah) Hulse, SGS Class of 2002, has just released her second novel, "Eden Mine".  Set in Montana, she traces the aftermath of a bomb explosion on two families and explores the themes of faith and forgiveness.  Read the LA Times Book Review of her novel (in the S-R Feb. 16 edition) and plan to hear Sarah speak at 7pm on March 18 at the Montvale Event Center (1019 W. First Ave.) as part of the Spokesman-Review Northwest Passages series on regional authors.  Plus, read an article by Sarah in the Fall-Winter 2013 Saint George's Magazine about how she became a published author.

Dragon graduates returned to the Schmidt Center Gym on Saturday, Dec. 21 for a friendly game of basketball and a time to get together with friends.  Thanks to Bob Jones for this Photo Gallery of the event!

The boys JV soccer team will face off against the faculty and staff at 4pm on Wednesday, Oct. 16.  Then they will take on the SGS alumni team on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 11am; both matches are on the school's soccer pitch.  Come cheer on your favorite players and teams in these annual "non-conference" events!
