Nearly half of the Middle School competed in the annual Pi Day contest to recite the most digits of Pi on March 14th (3.14). The top scores by grade were 6th grader Henri Osborne with 54 digits, 7th grader Yasmine Tehrani with 20 digits, and 8th grader Tariq Ravasia with 74 digits. Saint George's School hosted the Dragon Slayer Youth Chess Tournament on Saturday, March 10. Spokane's oldest regular youth chess event, the tournament drew 77 players from 25 schools. Eight SGS students participated, and four of them scored 3.0: Donovan Bradford, Noah Hochheimer, Per Sande, and Adrian Rooney. Noah won the trophy for top first grader and joined the group of SGS players who have qualified for the Washington State Elementary Chess Championship in Pasco on April 21st...

Congratulations to the SGS History Bowl team of Solveig Baylor, Cate Caporrici, and Max Mihalick who brought home 2nd place at the State Championships in Silverdale, WA on March 3. This was against the top teams from all sizes of schools across Washington. "Solveig also earned State Runner Up in the individual competition, and the team qualified for Nationals," says coach Josh Hayes. Go Dragons!
The SGS Dragons 1595 Robotics team won the prestigious Chairman's Award at the Mount Vernon PNW District competition on March 4. This is the second year that the team has received the top award at a FIRST Robotics competition. It also secures the team a place at the PNW Regional competition in Portland. SGS senior Connor Cremers has earned National Merit Scholar Finalist status, thanks to his scores on the PSAT and other academic accomplishments. He is one of just 15,000 high school seniors across the nation to be named a Finalist. Connor is a candidate for about 7,500 corporate- or college-sponsored scholarships based on his test scores, activities, recommendations and an essay. Congratulations!
Saint George's Knowledge Bowl team of Adit Arora, Delaney Ennis, Max Mihalick, and Max Richardson won the Small School division in the KB Regional Tournament at Whitworth University on Feb. 23. They qualify for the State Knowledge Bowl Tournament on March 16 in Arlington, WA. Go Dragons!
