Congratulations to the 5th Grade Math is Cool Team, who placed 2nd in the Team Division on Friday, Feb. 9 at Mead High School.  Rohan Dhillon earned 1st place in the Individual Competition as well.  See the full list of MIC team members and which four are headed to the State Masters Championships...

Four SGS students participated in the Rook’s Ruckus chess tournament on Saturday, Feb. 17.  Two of them qualified for state for the first time this year – Preston Sevigny and Donovan Bradford.  See a Photo Gallery of the four competitors deep in thought...

Juniors Grace Generous and Charlie Darnall won the Greater Spokane League Title against schools of all sizes at the Ferris High School Tournament on Jan. 26-27.  The GSL contest is typically a team effort against much larger schools, including Mead, Lewis & Clark, and Gonzaga Prep.  The contest is season-long, so a number of debaters contributed points to the win, including senior Kylie Vera, junior Nik Chaudhry, and up-and-coming ninth graders Paul Darnall and Chaitanya Nalluri, who also reached the Elite Eight at this weekend’s tournament.  Go Dragons!

Three Saint George's students won trophies at the Frosty Pawn youth chess tournament on Jan. 6.  Eshan Reddy was perfect, winning all five games to place 1st in the lower section.  In the upper section, Rohan Dhillon (3.5) won 1st place in fifth grade, and Robbie Witmer (2.0) won 1st in sixth grade...

The FIRST Robotics Competition Kickoff Event is this Saturday, January 6 from 10am to 3pm in the Upper School Art Room.  Team 1595 will be hosting this event with other local teams to discuss the new game, go over rules, analyze potential strategies, and help everyone prep for the new season.  Here's a “teaser” for this year’s game...

FTC Robotics team 6128 (Dragons 1.0) & 7935 (Dragons 2.0) fought tough battles at their Interleague competition in Richland. Team 7935 ended ranked 9th and 6128 was ranked 4th, putting them in the semifinals and eventually on the winning alliance, so they will advance to the State Finals!  Read about their exciting final match and see photos and video of the competition...

Saint George's FTC Robot 6128 not only is headed to State, but it also won the Design Award at the Dec. 16 Interleague Competition in Richland. “This judged award recognizes design elements of the Robot that are both functional and aesthetic."  Learn more about the award...

Saint George's debaters Kylie Vera (senior) and Grace Generous (junior) took 2nd place at the University of Washington Debate Tournament on Dec. 2-3.  Vera and Generous debated schools of all sizes, from cities up and down the West Coast.  The duo lost the championship round on a questionable split decision to Damien High School of Los Angeles, but still managed to earn a rare bid to the Tournament of Champions next summer, and to solidify a place among the nation's most elite teams.  Individually, Vera was the tournament's 4th place individual speaker based on points; Generous took 6th.  Go Dragons!
