The fifth graders canoed down the Little Spokane River on Sept. 6.  Check out the Photo Gallery of them having fun, and of the furry visitor who was following after them downstream.

The Outdoor Club spent a beautiful September weekend in the North Idaho wilderness hiking to Harrison Lake and back.  See a Photo Gallery of the scenery they saw while hiking.  When they camped at Harrison Lake, 10th grader Finley Wolff and 11th grader Tristan Krzyzanek took some amazing night shots of the stars and their campground -- see their Photo Gallery.

On Wed., Sept. 11 at 3pm the Upper School Outdoor Club will float the Little Spokane River and clean up trash between SGS and the Painted Rocks take out.  Students need to contact Melanie Mildrew to get on the list and earn CAS points.  Then at 3:20pm on Thu., Sept. 12, Middle and Upper School students can join the Outdoor Club paddleboarding down the Little Spokane.  And on Sat., Sept. 14 at 9:30am, SGS will be joining the Spokane Lands Council at High Bridge Park (2414-2508 W Sunset Boulevard) to help clean up the Spokane River.  Any students and parents that would like to help with this, please email melanie.mildrew@sgs.org by Tuesday, September 11.  You will need to check in, and you can speed things up by bringing This Waiver with you.  Learn more at Spokane River Cleanup.

The 9th graders began their Upper School experience with a two-night campout on Upper Priest Lake.  See a Photo Gallery of plenty of canoeing and team-building games with beautiful summer weather!

The 11th grade class camped at Lake Spokane Campground along the Spokane River on August 28 to begin their junior year together.  The next day, the juniors raked up the pine needles and cones to help the State Park employees clean up the campgrounds.  See photo galleries of their Junior Campout and their Campground Cleanup Project.

The seniors worked together to master different individual and group challenges at the Camp Reed ropes course on Aug. 28.  See a Photo Gallery of their adventures during their start of year campout and a Facebook Video of Maria Madero going airborne!

Join the Outdoor Club's annual weekend hiking trip to Harrison Lake in the North Idaho wilderness.  8th through 12th grade students can sign up by having their parents fill out the Power School waiver and bringing the $60 payment in to Melanie by Wednesday, Sept. 4.  See the Harrison Lake Info Flyer on the website; a required meeting at lunch on Wednesday in David Holte's Room will go over the logistics.  

The Outdoor Club's summer wilderness experience was a five-day hike through the Pasayten Wilderness in north central Washington.  See a Photo Gallery of them encountering snow and rain, as well as spectacular views in the mountains near the Canadian border.

One May Term class spent several days canoeing along the Winchester Wasteway through the dunes of Central Washington during the last week in May.  See a Photo Gallery of the wide open spaces that they paddled through and flower-covered sand dunes that they jumped down!

The 6th graders spent Monday, June 3 canoeing down the Little Spokane River with the May Term canoeing class.  They collected junk from the river all the way to the confluence with the Spokane River, as you can see in the Photo Gallery of their canoes at the end of the day.  Look for the photo of the moose that they also found in the river!
