- St. John’s College on Wednesday, September 15 at 2:30 on Zoom (contact happy.avery@sgs.org for the link);
- Willamette University on Friday, September 17 at lunch in the Library.
All Upper School students who are interested in these schools should plan to attend.

The Junior Parent College Night has been rescheduled for Wednesday, January 27 from 6-7 p.m.  Here is information about the event:

This month, SGS college counselors Happy Avery and Kerry Clark will start working with 11th grade students on next year’s college admissions cycle.  They know that junior parents have many questions and concerns regarding the college admissions process as well.  Please join them on MS Teams to learn more about the process overall and priorities for this spring and summer.

This meeting is designed for parents of current juniors who are preparing to apply to college next fall, but all Saint George’s parents are welcome and encouraged to attend, as it’s never too early to plan and gather information.  If you didn't receive an email from Happy or Kerry, contact them at happy.avery@sgs.org or kerry.clark@sgs.org for the MS Teams link.  And if you can’t attend, they will record the meeting and follow up with a link to share.

Students can join an admissions representative from Hofstra University for a presentation and Q&A session from 11:45am to 12:15pm on Thursday, Oct. 29.  Here's the Link on MS Teams.  Learn about all the great opportunities that Hofstra has to offer and what a good fit student looks like for the university.

Students can join Madeleine Jacobs, Senior Assistant Director of Admissions from the University of Chicago, for a presentation and question and answer session during lunch on Thursday, Oct. 22.  Here's the Link on MS Teams.  Learn about all the great opportunities the University of Chicago has to offer and what a good fit student looks like for the university.

Six SGS seniors who scored in the top 2.5% of PSAT/NMSQT test takers and live in a rural area or small town have been identified as College Board National Recognition Program Scholars.  The recognition helps highlight their outstanding educational achievements to top colleges and universities.  Congratulations to Alec Bunn, Gabi Cunningham, John DeForest, Chaitanya Nalluri, Winnie Wu, and Henry Xu!

The Spokane National College Fair will be held at the Spokane Convention Center on Tuesday, November 5 from 9am to Noon and in the evening from 6 to 8pm.  Students are encouraged to attend to learn about various colleges and to speak with admission representatives for schools of interest.  For more information about the fair, including a list of colleges attending, Click Here.

The 9th grade class will visit the fair that morning, but college counselor Kerry Clark encourages all students to attend in the evening after school from 6-8pm.  If you plan to attend, please register through the above link and print out the barcode you generate through your registration so it is easier for you to share your information with any colleges you speak with.  Also, for schools that track demonstrated interest, this is a great way to show you have made contact with a school’s representative.  The person at the booth for each school is often the person who reads applications for our area, so try to be prepared with some questions to ask to make the most of your time and make a good impression with admission representatives.

If you have questions about this event or would like help preparing to meet with school representatives, feel free to email your SGS college counselors at happy.avery@sgs.org or kerry.clark@sgs.org and they will be glad to assist.

The 9th graders split into two groups and toured Whitworth University on Nov. 5 to learn more about college life.  Quincy Cooper, one of their guides, was familiar with SGS, having worked as an intern in our Communications Office back in the fall of 2014.  See a Photo Gallery of both groups exploring the nearby campus.
