College Counseling News

The seniors gathered in the Library on August 28 to review the Common Application for colleges and get started on their applications.  See a Photo Gallery of them working with Upper School Head Russell Werkman and exploring what different colleges and universities require for successful applicants.

The sophomores spent three days visiting colleges and universities in Oregon, including Univ. of Portland, Willamette, Oregon State, and Reed College.  See a Photo Gallery of their visits from August 28-30 to launch their 10th grade at Saint George's.

A dozen private colleges in Oregon are offering to waive their college application fee to any students who visit four or more of these institutions during the week of July 23-27, 2018.  Plan your visits and register at oregonprivatecolleges.com...

A dozen Upper School students traveled to Southern California to visit and learn about eight different colleges and universities from April 1-5.  They visited major public research universities (USC, UCLA), regional universities (Chapman, Redlands), faith-based universities (Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine), and national liberal arts colleges (Occidental, Claremont McKenna).  They also managed to fit in a Dodgers baseball game and stops at Hollywood and Redondo Beach.  See a Photo Gallery of their explorations...

Saint George's is leading a spring break trip to Southern California for 9th, 10th and 11th grade students to visit a variety of colleges.  The trip from Sunday, April 1 to Thursday, April 5 will include visits to most of these schools: Cal Tech, Chapman, Pomona, Claremont McKenna, Pitzer, Harvey Mudd, Pepperdine, Redlands, Loyola Marymount, USC, Occidental, and UCLA.  A deposit is due by Feb. 1, so check with kerry.clark@sgs.org or call 464-8777 for more details...
