9th grader Reagan Ivey was awarded a gold medal in the Grade 9 Solo Voice competition class at Musicfest Northwest.  She was invited to perform on KPBX public radio's review on Friday, May 18.  Listen to Reagan sing "Amarilli mia bella" on the KPBX website.  Congratulations, Reagan!

The Kindergarten students have created an ocean reef full of fish, coral, and other sea creatures in their classroom.  See a Photo Gallery of their installation and the many kinds of creatures they've colored...

Lower School students performed several musical numbers in a concert on Grandparents' Day in the Dragon's Den.  See the 2nd graders sing and chant a Spanish Song about sea creatures using "boomwacker" sticks.  Then the 5th graders play the Orff instruments while the 4th graders dance to the Rhythms of the River...

The photography students have experimented with high speed photos of colored water drops.  See a Photo Gallery of their amazing images that are on view in the US Art Gallery...

Two SGS students performed at the State Solo & Ensemble competition in Ellensburg on Saturday, April 28 -- 12th grader Susie Jones in the Alto Vocal division and 10th grader Sarah Wu on the piano.  Both girls were in the top 16 musicians in the State in their divisions.  Both also received two Superior ratings and one Excellent rating.  See a Video of Susie singing "Mandolin" by Claude Debussy and "Nina" by Manuel de Falla.  See a Video of Sarah performing Beethoven's Sonata in F sharp major Op. 78 Mov. Saint George's has learned that the Chamber Choir of Susie Jones, Olivia Osborne, Bella Lin and Reagan Ivey won the high school combo division at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival in February.  Congratulations to those jazzy vocalists!

Saint George's violinists Sirena Coulter-Kress (grade 6) and Reagan Ivey (grade 9) performed in the Spokane Youth Symphony’s concert “Energy That Inspires” on April 22 at the Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox.  Sirena plays with the Sinfonietta and Reagan plays with the Symphony Orchestra.  Watch a Facebook Video of brief selections from both of their performances.  The Spokane Youth Symphony’s final season concert, “Excellence That Inspires”, will be on May 20 at 4pm at the Fox...

The 6th grade's art teacher Jennifer Davenport showed them how to cut a piece of paper to make a repeated pattern. They chose a theme they were interested in and went for it!  See a Photo Gallery of their images posted along the hallway between the Choir Room and Founders Theater...

The Upper School Photography Class has taken over the Art Gallery with miniature photos and their own movie posters.  See a Photo Gallery of their creative work and be sure to stop by to see them yourself during April.

The Lower School Choir's Spring Concert is Thursday, April 26, at 7pm in Founders Theater.  All parents and students are invited to this celebration of music and refreshments after the performance.  The LS choir has already been sharing their voices around the community.  They have performed at the Touchmark on South Hill Retirement Home, at Rockwood North Retirement Center, and with the Whitworth University Choir, directed by Marc Hafso (Judy's husband).  The students are excited to share their love of singing together!
