Community News

Congratulations to the Lower School, Middle School, and Administrative Staff for reaching 100% participation in the Saint George's Annual Fund.  Our Annual Fund runs until June 30, 2020 so you still have plenty of time to donate or make a pledge.  Your support means so much for our students -- Thank You!

The Center for Family Engagement is hosting its first Professional Panel on the topic of Internet Safety & Social Media.  Come to the Dragon Room at 6pm on Thursday, Nov. 21 to get your questions answered about helping students manage social media and be safe on the Internet.  All parents are welcome and encouraged to join.  Check out the CFE Webpage for recommendations on how to find a healthy balance of social media usage.

The back of the 2020 yearbook will again hold senior ads.  You can now reserve a full-page senior ad for $250, which will be charged to your student's account.  Layout and design assistance is free, but you will need to send the photos and text that you want in the ad to John Carter no later than Tuesday, Nov. 26.  Or you can provide a high resolution (300ppi) PDF or JPEG of the finished ad.  Ads must be 7.5" wide by 9.125" tall in size.  Senior ads are all due January 10, 2020.  To reserve a senior ad, or if you have questions about senior ads, please contact John Carter at john.carter@sgs.org

Saint George's Scare Away Hunger Food Drive is running until Friday, Nov. 15 with bins that you and your student can contribute to in each division.  There is a competition between grades with the class that brings in the most food per person winning the heavyweight belt!  The top class in the Lower School will enjoy waffles with the Middle School (and they have a contest for decorating their food bins).  The Middle School grade with the most food will enjoy a treat, as will the top Upper School class.  Please remember to bring in food to fill the bins and help Scare Away Hunger in the Inland NW!

Thank you to all SGS parents who participated in the 2019-2020 Parent Drive.  Currently we are at 85% Parent Participation but still looking to hit our 90% goal.  There is still time this week to make a donation that will count towards your child’s class percentages.  We only need one more parent from 1st and 4th grades and you will be at 100% parent participation.  And 3rd and 5th grades only need two more parents to reach 100%.  Please go to www.sgs.org/give to make your donation today!

Saint George's Center for Family Engagement is hosting a parent Book Club on November 14th at 6pm in the Upper School Library.  We will be discussing "Parenting with Love and Logic" and snacks and drinks will be provided!  Check out the CFE Webpage for other book recommendations for SGS families.

Fall Blood Drive a Success

November 12, 2019

Thank you to everyone who contributed at the Fall Blood Drive last week.  We received 28 units of blood, putting us almost half way to the 60 total units needed to earn a $2,000 grant.  Be sure to donate at our Spring Blood Drive so we can help local patients in need and earn that grant!

This is the last week of the fall SGS Parent Drive to support our students and teachers through the Annual Fund.  We'd love to see our classes reach the 90% parent participation goal.  Currently we are at 63% parent participation and only need one more parent from Kindergarten and 2nd grade to reach 100% for those classes!

Students will be holding a Phone-a-thon on Wednesday, Nov. 6 starting at 5:30pm.  They will be reaching out to families who have not yet contributed to the 2019-2020 Parent Drive.  So please make their job easy and make your gift or pledge before this Wednesday at sgs.org/Give.  Go Dragons!

Halloween Costumes on Parade!

November 04, 2019

The Lower School's annual Halloween costume parade took them across campus and through the Upper and Middle Schools.  See a photo gallery of their Wild Variety of Characters!  In the Middle School, students and teachers wore Their Own Costumes to welcome the Lower School costume parade.  And Upper School students and faculty also dressed up for Halloween; See Their Costumes with friends and in the US photo booth.

Saint George's Center for Family Engagement is focused on Internet Safety and Social Media during November.  Check out the CFE Webpage for the pros and cons of using social media, as well as book recommendations for SGS families.  Several events are coming up this month as well; look under the CFE Resource Center for details.
