Each senior has a full page in the SGS 2022 Yearbook, and the deadline for those photos to be submitted to john.carter@sgs.org is Monday, November 1.  Here's what is due that day:

1. A nice senior photo.  This digital image should be sized to 8" wide by 10" tall (2400 x 3000 pixels) to print.  You can pre-size the image or send a larger image and we'll resize and/or crop it to fit.  (The final size of the senior photo on the page will be smaller than 8x10, depending on what else is on the page.)

2. A baby or child photo of each senior.  You can email a digital image or mail a print to John Carter and he will scan, crop and/or resize it to fit.  

3. Up to three additional images of each senior.  These can be of them in activities or with friends or family, at SGS or elsewhere.  John can scan prints and resize digital images to fit.  All prints received will be returned to the senior after scanning.  (If you choose not to send additional images, we will find several images of your senior from past SGS yearbooks or photo galleries to include on their page.)

If you need more time to gather photos, please email john.carter@sgs.org so he will know when to expect them.  And it would be good to remind your senior to fill out the online forms for their favorite quotes and favorite memory; all of those are due as well by Nov. 1st.  Thanks for helping make this a memorable yearbook for the Class of 2022.  Go Dragons! 

Times for most of the SGS bus routes have changed slightly to provide more accurate pick up and drop off times.  Starting this week, Route #2 has an added stop in the afternoon (no time changes), Route #3 has an added stop and several stops are 5 minutes earlier, and Routes #4 and #5 have each dropped a stop that was not being used.  See the Updated Bus Routes as of 10/11/21 for the details.

October 11-15 is Homecoming Spirit Week, with a variety of class competitions and dress up day themes.  Monday was Pajama Day and you can see photos from the Egg Roulette Competition.  Tuesday is Decades/Throwback Day (70s, 80s, 90s...) with a Lip Sync competition at lunch.  Wednesday everyone will be wearing Monochrome (all one color) clothing.  Thursday is Dress-up Day, a chance to wear something you wouldn't normally wear, with Trivia at lunch.  Then it's "Freaky Friday" where students switch outfits/styles with one or more friends, followed by the excitement of Human Foosball in the US Courtyard.  The week ends with a Homecoming Dance on Friday, Oct. 15 at 8pm outdoors on campus (weather permitting) and an "Enchanted Forest" theme.  Also see the Dragon Athletics schedule for the week -- there are plenty of opportunities to cheer on your Dragons at home matches!

Saint George's annual "Scare Away Hunger Campaign" begins Oct. 12 and continues through November 2.  Please help your student bring in non-perishable food items for donations.  There are collection bins at every LS classroom and in the MS and US courtyards for each grade.  Grades with the most pounds of donations per student will win prizes.  All donations go to the local 2nd Harvest Food Bank to help scare away hunger in the Spokane area!

Saint George's will run a test of the SGS Emergency Notification System through the BrightArrow program on Tuesday, Oct. 12 at 11:00 am.  Please look for a call, text, and/or email from the school, depending on which contact information you have listed in PowerSchool.  If you do not receive any notification, please contact Tracy Gonser at tracy.gonser@sgs.org.  

TEDxSpokane celebrates it's 10th year in 2021 with a new podcast of in-depth interviews with this year's speakers.  In the middle of each podcast (at the 12:50 mark), you can hear a short interview with Head of School Jamie Tender, the founder of TEDxSpokane.  Find out what it was like to host the first TEDx event at Saint George's and learn Jamie's favorite TED and TEDxSpokane talks.  Click here for the TEDxSpokane Podcast and check out the TEDxSpokane website for details on in-person or virtual tickets to the 2021 event on the evening of Oct. 9.

TEDxSpokane celebrates its 10th year on Oct. 9, 2021, featuring 10 speakers with ideas worth sharing.  One of those speakers is Janet Mann '64, whose talk is titled, “People, Not Programs, Change People.”  With a focus on professionals and agencies that serve children and families in crisis, Janet emphasizes that a trusting relationship, not just information, is what inspires people to change.  TEDxSpokane still has virtual tickets available at the TEDxSpokane Website.

To reduce traffic on campus, Saint George's is making the shuttle stop at nearby Fairwood Shopping Center available for any SGS student.  The #4 bus stops at N. Mill Road and W Hastings Road in the parking lot to the east of Nom Nom each morning at 8:02am and afternoon at 3:27pm.  Students should be at the bus stop 5 minutes before the pick up time.  The Late Bus also stops at the same location at 5:42pm.  There is no additional cost for using this shuttle stop, so the hope is to offer an alternative to driving your student onto campus.  Students taking the shuttle bus from campus (who are not a regular bus rider) will need to get a bus pass from their division assistant before boarding the bus to Fairwood.  Contact john.young@sgs.org with any questions.

October pre-sign-ups are now open for after-school supervision in the Lower School’s After School Enrichment Club (ASE). This an optional service.  If you haven’t already filled out the one-time Authorization Form, it’s found on Power School. Fill out this form separately for each child. If you have already done this, then you don't need to do it again. For a reminder of how ASE is structured, please refer to the After School Enrichment Club Information before filling out the October pre-sign-up form.
