IB News

Twenty members of the Class of 2020 have earned the International Baccalaureate Diploma based on their scores in IB subject tests.  The average score of those who received the IB Diploma was 30, while the highest IB Diploma score by an SGS student was 38.  These 20, and many of their classmates, earned academic credit at colleges across the country with their IB test scores.  Congratulations to all 20 for successfully completing the most rigorous high school diploma program in the world!

The International Baccalaureate Organization has announced the cancellation of the May 2020 IB Exams.  Saint George's is trying to coordinate this news, additional IB information, and OSPI requirements and waivers for graduating seniors that have yet to be finalized.  The IB statement cancelling IB tests in May 2020 can be found on the IB Website.

SGS parent Marcelo Morales spent the morning of Nov. 14 sharing the culture of his native Chile with the Upper School Spanish classes.  They learned about Chile's cuisine (seafood), politics (boisterous), and other aspects of this unique South American nation.  See a Photo Gallery of him speaking to the class and some of the questions they had written down on their desks for him to answer.

The 11th grade IB Biology class used the Bio Lab microscopes to identify and draw amoeba and other tiny organisms.  See a Photo Gallery of them finding and recording these remarkable creatures!

The junior class spent August 27th in the Dragon's Den learning about the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.  See a Photo Gallery of them listening thoughtfully and taking a self-assessment quiz.

Come to the Upper School Art Gallery to see a remarkable exhibit.  Senior Kyrie Woodard is displaying her CAS project of interviewing the homeless of Spokane.  She spent the past two years interviewing 31 members of the community and taking some powerful photos.  Some of their stories are truly heartbreaking and thought-provoking.  See a Photo Gallery of some of the exhibit, which will be up through May.

Six senior artists have their International Baccalaureate artworks displayed around the Upper School through the end of March.  See a Photo Gallery of their installations, and look for their exhibits in the Art Gallery, Library, Library conference room, Biology class greenhouse, and Courtyard in front of Founders Theater.

Senior Alyson Galow is training a guide dog for the blind this year.  She and Limerick were featured in an article titled "Guiding Sight" in a recent issue of the Inlander...
