The 1st graders joined the 7th-8th grade Art Class on the last day of school before the Holiday Break to create paper snowflakes together.  See a Photo Gallery of them hard at work making seasonal decorations.

The fourth graders pulled bunches of leaves out of the stream through campus and looked for the creatures -- from leaches to fish to worms -- that inhabit the stream.  Here is a Photo Gallery of them in the Upper School Bio Lab using microscopes to identify the different species.

Tuesday, Nov. 26 featured science displays by the 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders spread around the Lower School.  From cool cats and scary spiders to jumping bullfrogs and creepy brains, they had fun explaining their experiments and research to other students and family members.  See photo galleries of the 3rd Grade Displays, the 4th Grade Displays, and the 5th Grade Displays.

The Kindergarten class helped prepare and cook a Thanksgiving meal on Nov. 25. As Pilgrims, they welcomed their "Indian Buddies" -- the seniors who started at SGS in Kindergarten -- to a delightful feast!  See photo galleries of the K's & Seniors enjoying the meal together and of the Kindergarteners Playing traditional pilgrim games before the feast.  Happy Thanksgiving!

The 5th graders studied bridge designs, then used toothpicks and glue to build their own bridges.  Their strongest bridges held 19 lbs!  See a Photo Gallery of the bridge breaking competition and a Video of the bridges being destroyed in the name of science!

The 2nd graders made colorful owl glasses and read poems about owls at the Nov. 22 Lower School Assembly.  See a Photo Gallery of them performing for the rest of the Lower School.

The new Lower School art and music building is taking shape before our eyes!  See photo galleries of the process of Laying the Foundations and of the work in October of Framing the Structure.  Plus see a gallery of All the Lower School students and staff in their Halloween costumes in front of the building.  The teachers chose a hard hat theme for their costumes this year!

Congratulations to Lower School artists Mies Shimizu (1st grade) and Bella Buckner (5th grade), whose drawings were among 32 finalists for the 2020 Spokane Recycles calendar.  From these finalists, the work of 17 students will be chosen for the calendar.  Student finalists will be recognized at the November 12 meeting of the Board of County Commissioners.  Every finalist will receive a certificate from the commissioners, and a short reception will be held after the meeting where the winners for the calendar will be announced.  All of the finalists’ posters are currently on display at River Park Square on the second level through Tuesday, Nov. 12.  Check them out!
