Middle School News

For Science, the 6th graders created models of a cell using whatever they had available at home.  See a Gallery of their creative projects!  And for World Religions, the 6th graders created Facebook pages for different Hindu gods and goddesses.  See a Gallery of these pages and see which deities you would like to "Friend"!

8th grade Social Studies students have researched and created infographics about past pandemics.  Here is a Photo Gallery of several of them showing this is not the first time we have had to deal with dangerous diseases!

The SGS 7th and 8th grade Math is Cool teams competed at Regionals on January 31 at Mead High School.  The 7th grade team included Esther Buckner, Robert DeForest, Simon Feist, and Oliver Ling.  The 8th grade team consisted of just three students -- Annalie Nachreiner, Lily Nosbaum, and Aarna Pardeshi.  Both teams just learned that they qualified for the Math is Cool State "Masters" competition on April 18 at Moses Lake High School.  Go Dragons!

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it's over the snow they go in this short GoPro Video of the 6th graders snowshoeing on Mt. Spokane.  Thanks to Azra Sande for the video of their outdoor exploration through the snowy woods.

Congratulations to 7th grader Savvy Briceno and 8th graders Noah Buchmann and Kiya Kangas, who sang in the Washington Music Educators Association (WMEA) All-State Junior Choir on Saturday, Feb. 15 in Yakima.  Also kudos to 6th graders Isabela Acosta, Audry Ince, Maggie Morris, Emily Mullins, and Sophia Naccarato for singing in the WMEA All-State Youth Choir the same day. 

The 7th grade boys' and girls' basketball teams hosted Newport in Metters Gym on Feb. 12.  See photo galleries of the action from the 7th Grade Boys Game and the 7th Grade Girls Game.

The 7th and 8th graders spent the day of Jan. 28 cross country skiing on Mt. Spokane and enjoying plenty of exercise in the snow!  See a Photo Gallery of them in the deep powder, compliments of parent Jayne McLaughlin.

All of the 8th graders showed off their Class of 2024 sweatshirts on presentation day.  See a Photo Gallery of them in their new student-designed outfits!

Dressed up in leather jackets or poodle skirts, the 7th and 8th graders performed the musical "The Nifty Fifties" in Founders Theater on Nov. 6.  See a Photo Gallery of the show and Watch Them Sing about the scary movie "The Blob" at their local theater.

The 7th and 8th grade art students created drawings inspired by photos from space.  This Photo Gallery shows drawings on display on the Middle School walls by the Dragon Room.
