SGS Musicians Compete at MusicFest Northwest

Nearly a dozen current and former Saint George's musicians performed in the Musicfest Northwest competition in Spokane in mid-May.  Middle Schoolers included Reagan Ivey, Yasmine Tehrani, Rona Smith, and Ethan Wu, who played both the piano and violin.  Upper School students included Solvieg Baylor, Anna Nowland, Rebecca Tran, Sarah Wu, Lucy Yan, and Mickey Zhang.  Anna's piano performance of Bach won a Gold Medal and was broadcast on KPBX Radio (listen to podcasts of Anna's and Mickey's broadcasts), while Anna and Mickey's vocal ensemble also won Gold and Mickey had his own solo on KPBX.  Sarah won three golds and two silvers in different piano categories; watch her play Mozart's Concerto in A major K414 on YouTube.  And you can see Rebecca's performance of two Scriabin preludes on the SGS Dragons Facebook page.  Even SGS alumni Hailey Hyde and Malinda Wagstaff returned for the competition!
