Dragon Soccer Teams Reach State Final Four!

November 13, 2017

The SGS boys’ varsity soccer team won a decisive 4-0 victory in the State quarterfinal round over Life Christian School on Nov. 10.  Mitchell Ward scored all four goals, two of them assisted by Noah Galow, as the Dragons cruised into the State Final Four!  See a Photo Gallery of the boys' game that was played at Gonzaga Prep's field.  The boys will face rival Prescott in the State Semi-finals at 6:00pm on Friday, Nov. 17 at Sunset Chev Stadium in Auburn, Washington.  The Dragons have defeated and tied Prescott in their previous games this season and are shooting for their third State Championship in a row!

The SGS girls’ varsity soccer team also won a tight 1-0 victory in the State quarterfinal round over Liberty Bell High School on Nov. 10.  Freshman Cambrie Rickard, assisted by Maddy Christiansen, had the only goal just 11 minutes into the game.  Then the Dragons held on for the win and a ticket to the State Final Four!  See a Photo Gallery of the girls' game, also played at G Prep's field.  The girls will face Brewster in the State Semi-finals at 2:00pm on Friday, Nov. 17 in Auburn, WA.  The Dragons lost 3-2 to Brewster in the teams' only match up this season but are determined to repeat as State Champions!

Both teams will head out from SGS at 10am on Thursday, Nov. 16 for Auburn.  Follow the action at the WIAA Tournament Website.  Students who plan to travel to Auburn for the semi-final games (and hopefully the finals on Saturday) must be excused by their parents and check with all of their teachers for assignments.  Go Dragons!
