McIndoe Named Softball Umpire "Rookie of the Year"

November 13, 2017

SGS 9th grader Nic McIndoe was honored this Saturday, Nov. 11 at the Spokane Softball Umpires Association (SSUA) Banquet with the "2017 Umpire Rookie of the Year" award.  He umpired over 100 fast pitch softball games in 2017 ranging from District 81 high schools and parochial schools in the spring followed by summer competitive and recreational leagues and finally fall middle school leagues.  Nic also was awarded head umpire at two summer championship games for 10U and 12U leagues.

The average age of an umpire is 58, so Nic at age 14 is the youngest umpire for girls' fast pitch softball in Spokane.  Nic was noted for his professionalism, accuracy and consistency of play calls from various coaches and umpires in the league.  Congratulations Nic!
