May 28, 2019

Maggie McLaughlin, Grace Harrill, Jora Gleason and Reagan Ivey not only cruised to the 2B State Championship in the 4x400 meter race on May 25 at Eastern Washington University's track.  They entered Saint George's in the record books as the first high school of any size in Washington history to win the 4x400 meter race five years in a row!  Ivey anchored the team, finishing in 4:09.32, almost four seconds ahead of second-place DeSales HS.  “It feels amazing,” Harrill said in a Spokesman-Review article. “It’s awesome.  We ran our hearts out and did the best we could.  I’m glad we did it for the past 4-by-4 teammates, too.  It’s just awesome.”

The Dragons were unbeatable in the State relay races.  Harrill, Gleason, Ivey and Fair Niven combined to win the 4x200 in a time of 1:47.40.  And Harrill, Ivey and Niven were joined by Taylor Sande to capture the 4x100 race in 50.74.  In the individual events, Niven took 3rd in the 100 meter race, Ivey was 4th in the 400 meters, McLaughlin was 6th in the 800 meters, Sande leaped to 8th in the triple jump, and Gleason finished 8th in both the 1,600 and 3,200 meter races.  Overall the six SGS girls earned 4th place as a team at State.  See a Photo Gallery of the girls races shot by Frank Harrill and Azra Sande, as well as the 4x100 runners highlighted in an SWX Video and a video of the Girls 4x400 Race & Medal Ceremony!
