AN IB WORLD SCHOOL

Welcome to Saint George's

We make a difference in young people's lives

Dear Friends,
In 1955, a group of visionary parents joined forces to create a new educational option in Spokane.  The founders sought a place that would prepare students for life and to succeed at the best colleges and universities around the world. Sixty-five years later, Saint George’s School continues to fulfill their initial vision.  We fill a unique niche in the region as the only K-12 independent school, making a positive difference in the lives of young people.

The founders secured a bucolic setting for the school on the site of Louis Davenport’s former summer home, appropriately named Flowerfield, after the flowing acres of terraced gardens that adorned the property.
Our school is still nestled on that beautiful 120-acre property overlooking the Little Spokane River.  The campus is a treasure, allowing us to incorporate outdoor experiences as a key part of the education model at SGS.

Our community is built around the students, faculty, staff and families currently at the school, but alumni, former staff and parents also continue to contribute in shaping Saint George’s.  The intimate size of the school allows us to know every student very well, so we can build on their strengths and address areas they are still developing.  We focus on the whole child, supporting them as they follow their passions and add to our diverse community.  Our alumni and current students talk about the positive influence their teachers have had on them. Likewise our teachers often share stories of great relationships they have forged with their current and former students.

As a parent at SGS since 2003, I’ve experienced firsthand how our dedicated faculty and staff prepare students in each grade to find success in the classroom, on the stage, and on the field of play.

JAMIE TENDER, HEAD OF SCHOOL

This bond inspires our students to strive for excellence in everything they attempt.  Their efforts are evidenced by their academic achievements, athletic championships, and artistic endeavors.   It is our mission to do more than just educate young minds; we are all about… Inspiring scholars, athletes and artists to serve and lead others.  Like the mission, our core values provide guidance and direction for our community.  We strive to live by these values at all times:  Honesty, Respect, Generosity of Spirit and Best Efforts.

There is, however, so much more that a Saint George’s education offers its students and their families.  For example, we are the first International Baccalaureate World School in the Spokane-area, an excellent preparation for college, the world, and life.  Please browse the website to see a snapshot of all that we do.  Learn a little bit about the academics, arts, athletics, and the grand traditions that make up Saint George’s.

I encourage you to visit our beautiful campus on the banks of the Little Spokane River and become a part of the dream that the founders envisioned.  Come and see how our school makes a positive difference in the lives of young men and women.

Warmly,

Jamie Tender, Head of School
