Hardie Directs "Moby Dick - A Musical"

October 07, 2019

Jean Hardie, director and choreographer of Saint George's drama productions since the 1990s, is also directing a whale of a tale -- a musical adaptation of the classic novel Moby Dick.  "Moby Dick - A Musical," created by local actor Ed Bryan and composer William Berry and based on the epic story by Herman Melville, took seven years to get to its first workshop production at Spokane Civic's Firth Chew Studio Theatre in April 2019.

Now the show has been accepted for the Chicago Musical Theatre Festival for original new works.  "This was incredibly exciting," says Jean, "but how in the world could we take the show to Chicago in February of 2020?"  The solution was to recast the show in Chicago, where it will open on February 7 for several performances.

Be sure to congratulate Jean when you see her around campus before she heads to Chicago in January for rehearsals.  You can also Contact Her to learn more about the plans to get the Great White Whale to Chicago and, some day, even the Great White Way of Broadway!
