Food Drive Donates Over 5,000 lbs. to Hungry

Saint George's "Scare Away Hunger" food drive raised a total of 5,226 lbs of food for Second Harvest Food Bank.  Thank you to everyone who contributed to reduce food insecurity in our local community!

 

The 7th graders brought the most per student in the Middle School, and the faculty were tops in the Upper School.  But the 5th grade once again outgave everyone else, contributing nearly their own weight in food -- almost 55 lbs per student!  This marks the 9th time in the past decade when the 5th graders have been tops in food drive donations.  Here are all of the grades' results:

 

• Kindergarten- 100 lbs / 13 = 7.69 lbs/person

• 1st- 179 lbs / 17 = 10.53 lbs/person

• 2nd- 413 lbs / 12 = 34.42 lbs/person

• 3rd- 560 lbs / 21 = 26.67 lbs/person

• 4th- 530 lbs / 21 = 25.24 lbs/person

• 5th- 1757 lbs / 32 = 54.91 lbs/person

• 6th- 352 lbs / 23 = 15.3 lbs/person

• 7th- 397 lbs / 29 = 13.69 lbs/person

• 8th- 231 lbs / 28 = 8.25 lbs/person

• 9th- 112 lbs / 35 = 3.2 lbs/person

• 10th- 125 lbs / 30 = 4.17 lbs/person

• 11th- 152 lbs / 44 = 3.45 lbs/person

• 12th- 159 lbs / 44 = 3.61 lbs/person

• US Faculty- 159 lbs / 22 = 7.23 lbs/person
