8th Grade Artists Show Inspiration

A display of paintings on cardboard in the hallway between the Middle and Upper Schools features pairs of paintings inspired by 20th Century African-American artist Jacob Lawrence.  Lawrence, who taught at the University of Washington, was widely known for his "modernist illustrations of everyday life as well as epic narratives of African American history and historical figures."  See a Photo Gallery of the 8th graders use of Lawrence's style to chronicle their own epic travels and activities.
