Four Golfers Advance in District Play

Four Saint George's golfers qualified for the second round of District 7 play; Taylor Mitchell and Maddy Christiansen on the girls’ side and Michael McCarthy and Winston Poppel on the boys’ side.  Maddy is currently in 3rd place overall, while Taylor is in 5th place.  The top 15 girls from the two days of districts qualify for state.  Plus, the girls' team of Maddy, Taylor, and Claire Bennett won the Sub-District team championship!  The girls play their second round of Districts on Tuesday, May 16 at Chewelah.

For the boys, Michael McCarthy shot a career best 83, 13 shots better than his previous best, and is currently in 10th place.  Winston shot 90 and is in 18th place.  The top 12 boys go to state.  The boys' team of Michael, Winston and Caleb Flegel finished 7th as a team, which was their best showing of the season.  The boys play their second round of Districts on Thursday, May 18 at Meadowwood.
