McCarthy Finishes 8th in All-School Golf Finals

May 17, 2021

For the second time ever, area school golf teams from all divisions (4A to 1B) met at Kalispel Golf and Country Club to decide who was the top dog in our area.  The one-day Regional Tournament featured players from Mead, Gonzaga Prep, Ferris, Mt. Spokane and all over the Spokane area.  The weather was fantastic and so was the golf -- see a Photo Gallery of images from the day.

Patrick McCarthy showed he can hang with the top golfers in town, shooting a 4 over par 76 and finishing tied for 8th out of more than 100 golfers.  "He beat players headed to Division 1 colleges and made a major statement for the smaller schools in town," said coach Brad Kirsch.  In addition, Patrick led our boys' team, made up of Nate Henning, Nick Henning, and Luke Whitman, to a 12th place team finish out of more than 20 schools.  It was a great end to a surprising season in which our varsity team, made up mostly of 1st or 2nd year players, had a lot of success.  Nate Henning shot a career best round of 102.  Carol Wolff also competed as an individual at regionals and finished in the top 50.  "She showed so much improvement over the course of the season and my only wish was that she would have started her golf career sooner!" said coach Kirsch.
