Kirsch Named Girls' Varsity Basketball Coach

August 09, 2021

Brad Kirsch, SGS 6th grade teacher and assistant boys' basketball coach for the past 12 years, will be the new head coach for girls’ basketball for the 2021-22 school year.  “Brad has been a key part of the Dragons’ achievements,” said Ryan Peplinski, SGS Athletic Director and head boys’ basketball coach.  “With his help, we reached the State 2B Tournament eight times, earning three 2nd place finishes and a state title in 2013.”

Kirsch played basketball at Mt. Spokane High School, graduating in 2002 and then returned four years later as the Wildcats’ boys’ freshman and junior varsity coach for three years before coming to Saint George’s.  “I am flexible and am always adjusting to our personnel,” he says.  “We are going to get after it on both ends of the floor and it should make for an exciting brand of basketball!”

Saint George’s girls’ basketball team has a long history of success.  The team has earned four State 2B titles (1994, 2000, 2002, 2004) and their most recent state trophy was 3rd place in 2018.  “I am really excited for the opportunity to build on the consistent success of the girls’ program,” says Kirsch.  “They are always in the mix at the state level, and my ultimate goal is getting over the top and winning another state championship.”
