Food Drive Raises Nearly 5,000 lbs. for Local Families

November 05, 2021

SGS students and staff donated a total of 4,953 lbs. of food for local families during the recent Scare Away Hunger Food Drive.  That works out to almost 25,000 meals!  In addition, an SGS family made an anonymous donation of $5,000 to 2nd Harvest Food Bank to help even more families.  Thank you to everyone who contributed -- this is the largest food drive that 2nd Harvest receives this time of year.

The top grade for donations again this year was the 5th Grade, who raised 1,010 lbs of food, or nearly 39 lbs. per student!  The 6th Graders had the most pounds per student in the Middle School, while the 9th Graders were tops in the Upper School.  See the Results for All Grades for how many pounds were donated per student.  And check out this Photo Gallery of when the truck from 2nd Harvest came to pick up all the bins in front of the Upper/Middle School and the Lower School on Nov. 4.
