Two Math Counts Students Qualify for State

The SGS Middle School team of seventh grader Tariq Ravasia and eighth graders Clark Chen, Chaitanya Nalluri, and Yoyo Yang went to the Spokane Regional Math Counts competition on Saturday, Feb. 25. In a tight finish, the team earned 2nd place just one point behind the leader. In the individual competition, Chaitanya got 4th place overall and Tariq got 2nd place overall. Both qualified for the state competition on March 18 at the Microsoft campus in Redmond, Washington. "Tariq only missed 4 out of 38 questions in the individual round," reports coach Shane Kangas.
