Cross Country Teams Win League Titles

Congratulations to the SGS boys' and girls' varsity cross country teams, who both won their NE2B League championships at the meet in Harrington on Saturday, Oct. 21.  Jora Gleason won the girls race with a time of 19:48, followed by Mary Neder, Audrey Harrill, and Kahlysta McKethen.  Jora, Mary and Audrey were named to the League All-Opponent team.

The boys were paced by Hunter Johnson (18:04) in 5th place overall, followed by Kai Jacobs, Alex Watkins, Nick Watkins, and Max Richardson.  Hunter, Kai, Alex and Nick were named to the League All-Opponent team.  The boys managed to take the team victory in spite of a wrong turn on the course that forced them to backtrack and added about 40 seconds to their times.  "That’s why their times are slow and their win unexpected," noted coach Josh Hayes.  Go Dragons!
