Debate Teams Headed to State & National Tournaments

February 27, 2017

Over the last two weekends, Saint George’s debaters have won impressive victories over local teams, qualifying two teams to both the State Tournament (University of Puget Sound in March) and National Tournament (Birmingham, Alabama in June). SGS policy debate teams of junior Kylie Vera and sophomore Grace Generous and of sophomores Charlie Darnall and Nik Chaudhry qualified to both tournaments. Over the last two qualifying events, Saint George’s policy teams are undefeated against schools of all sizes from Eastern Washington and North Idaho. "While qualifications to State are fairly routine for SGS policy teams," says Debate coach Chad Rigsby, "qualifying two teams to the National Tournament is a rare and stunning success!" Go Dragons!
