Dragons Honored with Faculty & Staff Awards

Congratulations to art teacher Jennifer Davenport (left above), who received the Hannah Joss Fellowship Award at an all-school assembly in Founders Theater on Nov. 20.  "I have experimented with the Teaching for Artistic Behavior or TAB philosophy in my classroom for the last two years," Jennifer wrote in her proposal.  "I think it is vital to continue to be an active learner and try new things constantly."  The award will send her to the TAB Summer Institute at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston, as well as to summer workshops or classes in ceramics techniques, fiber/textiles and mixed media.

Three other awards were based on nominations from colleagues and parents.  The Harvey W. Clarke Award for Excellence in Teaching was given to 1st grade teacher Julianne Clark (right).  Third grade teacher Denie Inman (second from left) received the Fred Gilbert Distinguished Teaching Award, and custodian Eric Davidson was honored with the Jim Stecher Staff Excellence Award.  See a Photo Gallery of the awards ceremony and the happy winners!
