SGS Hosts Dragon Slayer Chess Tournament

March 12, 2018

Saint George's School hosted the Dragon Slayer Youth Chess Tournament on Saturday, March 10.  Spokane's oldest regular youth chess event, the tournament drew 77 players from 25 schools.  Eight SGS students participated, and four of them scored 3.0:  Donovan Bradford, Noah Hochheimer, Per Sande, and Adrian Rooney.  Our team took 5th place in team scoring.  Noah won the trophy for top first grader and joined the group of SGS players who have qualified for the Washington State Elementary Chess Championship in Pasco on April 21st.  Qualifying for State at previous tournaments are Donovan Bradford, Rohan Dhillon, Eshan Reddy, Adrian Rooney, Per Sande, Preston Sevigny, and Robert Witmer.  A special thanks to Chase Bradford and Vijay Reddy for operating the concession stand all day long!
