Sande Sweeps Sprints, Girls' Track 2nd at State

May 29, 2018

Senior Ashley Sande sprinted to gold in the 100 meter, 200 meter, and 400 meter races at the 2B State Championships at Eastern Washington University on May 26!  She also anchored the gold medal 4x400 Relay team with Cambrie Rickard, Grace Harrill, and Reagan Ivey to a win in 4:06.10.  That made the SGS girls the first 2B team to win the 4x400 Relay four years in a row and only the second team in State history!  Overall the SGS girls finished 2nd at State just 6 points behind Northwest Christian of Lacey.  Read articles in the Spokesman-Review about Ashley's Running Career (May 24) and her Sweep of State Sprints (May 27) and see a Brief Video of the girls on top of the winners' stand.

Other strong Dragon relay performances included the 4x200 Relay team of Kate Tender, Cambrie, Grace, and Reagan who finished 2nd overall, and the 4x100 Relay team of Taylor Sande, Cambrie, Grace, and Kate who finished 4th.  Reagan also finished 4th in the 400 meter race.  Audrey Harrill was 6th in the 800 meter race, followed by Jora Gleason in 7th place.  And Mia Smith threw a personal best 114' in the Javelin for 8th place at State.  See the full State 2B Results and a Photo Gallery of the girls in action and celebrating after the 2018 State Championships.  Go Dragons!
