Dragon Teams Advance to State 2B Tournament

The SGS girls basketball team won a loser-out State Regional game and the SGS boys won their Regional game as well on Saturday, Feb. 23 to advance to the State 2B Tournament.  The boys defeated Willapa Valley 79-44 on the strength of 17 points from Xander Werkman.  The Dragons are 22-2 overall and seeded 3rd in State.  See a Photo Gallery of their Regional win (shot by Bob Jones).  They will play in the State 2B Tournament at the Spokane Arena at 12:15pm on Thursday, Feb. 28 against Toutle Lake or Kalama.

The girls defeated Ocosta 54-39 behind Abby Jones' 18 points; they are 16-9 overall and seeded 12th in State.  See a Photo Gallery of their Regional win (shot by Bob Jones).  The Dragons will play Ilwaco in the State 2B Tournament at the Spokane Arena at 7:15pm on Wednesday, Feb. 27 in a loser-out game.  If they defeat Ilwaco, the Dragons will play again at 7:15pm on Thursday, Feb. 28 against La Conner.
