International Students Score Tennis Wins

April 10, 2017

It was a busy week before spring break in Dragon tennis with league matches against Reardan and Davenport and a non-league boys match against Medical Lake.  SGS dominated with team wins across the board, relying on impressive performances from some of our international students.  Daniel Zhao, a returning varsity player, won 6-0, 6-0 while Bella Lin, new to varsity this year, defeated her opponent 6-1, 6-2.  "But the deciding match to give our girls the team win over Davenport came down to #2 doubles," says coach Laura Cremers.  "Marceline Tang was pulled up from JV to team up with Grace Generous, and they took down their opponents 6-0, 6-2 and gave our girls' team a 3-2 victory."  Similarly, at the boys match in Medical Lake, Jacky Zhu and Kevin Zhong, both freshman and new to the SGS tennis team, were pulled up from JV and won the deciding #3 boys doubles match against Medical Lake 6-3, 6-4, thereby clinching the SGS team victory 3-2.  See the Team Schedule for the rest of spring.  "Twenty of our 37 tennis team players are international students, and they are making a difference!"
