Dragons Fall to Kittitas in State 2B Finals

March 04, 2019

The Saint George's boys run through the State 2B Basketball Tournament reached the Championship Game to face Kittitas for the second year in a row.  And in an unfortunate case of deja vu, the Dragons fell again to the Coyotes in a 79-51 loss to end their season with the 2nd place trophy.  See a Photo Gallery of the title game in the Spokane Arena by Bob Jones.

The Dragons matched the Coyotes to a 28-point tie midway through the second quarter.  But the Coyotes' rebounding edge (34-19) and three-point bombs, seven of them by GU-bound senior guard Brock Ravet, meant the Dragons never got closer than 13 points behind in the second half.

Getting to the title game required a 53-44 win over Toutle Lake on Feb. 28 (see Photo Gallery and Video Highlights), as well as a come-from-behind 65-57 victory over Life Christian Academy on March 1 in the State Semifinals (see Boys State 2B Bracket for full results).  The Dragons ended their season 24-3 overall and say goodbye to three senior starters -- Ben Adams, Erik Farias, and Xander Werkman -- as well as senior bench players Ethan Johnson and Hunter Johnson.  Congratulations on getting to the State Championship Game again!
