Dragons Earn 6th Place at State 2B Tournament

The Saint George's girls went 2-2 at the State 2B Basketball Tournament in the Spokane Arena, finishing with the 6th place trophy.  The Dragons defeated Ilwaco 59-41 on Feb. 27 with a 19-0 run (see Photo Gallery), then lost 56-40 to La Conner on Feb. 28.  To get into the trophy rounds, they needed a 27-point performance by Abby Jones for a 55-45 win over Brewster.  Then in the game for 4th or 6th place in State, they faced NE District rival Davenport, falling 60-39.  The Gorillas limited the Dragons to 2 of 13 beyond the 3-point line and to just 13 points total in the second half.  See a Photo Gallery of the March 2nd game by Bob Jones; see Girls Bracket at State for full results.

The Dragons ended their season 18-11 overall and say goodbye to seniors Abby Jones, Claire Bennett, and Maddy Christiansen.  Congratulations on a remarkable first season under coach Cliff Berdar!
