AN IB WORLD SCHOOL

Governance

Guided by people who care about education

As an independent school, Saint George's is governed by a self-perpetuating Board of Trustees. Most board members are current parents or parents of alumni, though members of the wider community also serve as well.

The Board is responsible for the strategic direction of the school. It oversees Saint George’s financial and fiscal health and hires and evaluates the Head of School. Standing committees include Finance, Investment, Governance, and an Executive Committee. The Board also appoints Task Forces for working on timely and pressing issues for the school such as strategic planning or campaign management. Each year the Governance Committee nominates new trustees to serve up to three three-year terms on the Board.

The Board meets six times during the school year, including a day-long retreat.
