The 4th graders helped the 1st graders put bones and labels on their "human body" science projects in the hallways of the Lower School.  See a Photo Gallery of them working together.  After finishing their project with the 4th graders, the 1st graders returned to their classroom; see a Photo Gallery of them with some of their "leftover" bones.

Lower School Parent Conferences are this week on Thursday, Feb. 6, and Friday, Feb. 7.  There will be NO SCHOOL for students in grades K-5.  Complimentary After School Care is available during your conference time in the Dragon Den.  Full-day childcare is available from 8:00-5:25 for $45 or $25 for half-day care.  You do not need to RSVP Melanie in the office (464-8743 or melanie.gee@sgs.org) if you plan to use ASC during your conference time.  However, please RSVP to Melanie if your child/ren need full or half-day care on Feb. 6 or 7. 

There will be no classes for grades K-5 this Friday, Jan. 31.  This is an In-Service Day for Lower School teachers to prepare for conferences.  After School Care will be available if a minimum of five students sign up by Jan. 29. 

The Little Dragon Cheerleaders kept everyone cheering and entertained at the LS Basketball Night on Friday, Jan. 24.  See a Photo Gallery of their cheers for the girls' and boys' varsity basketball teams and their dance number during halftime!

The SGS Kindergarten students composed their own "Dreams" for ML King Jr. Day.  Here's a Video of their portraits, taken by K teacher Erika Mullins, with their dreams set to the voice of Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech by US History teacher Josh Hayes.  And here you can see a video of them Reading Their Dreams at the ML King Jr. Assembly on Friday, Jan. 17.

The 5th grade boys basketball team hosted Valley Christian in Metters Gym on Jan. 15, while the 5th grade girls "Red" team also played Valley Christian and the 5th grade girls "White" team hosted St. Thomas More that evening.  See a photo galleries of the 5th Boys Game, the 5th Girls "Red" Game, and the 5th Girls "White" Game as they were playing hard on their home court.

The Lower School Basketball Night and Chili Feed & Baked Potato Bar is coming on Friday, Jan. 24.  The complimentary dinner will be served from 4:30-6:00pm in the Dragons Den followed by the varsity basketball games against Wilbur H.S. beginning at 6pm for the girls' team and at 7:30pm for the boys' team.  The Little Dragon Cheerleaders will be performing as well.  Come enjoy a cheerful social time with LS families and support the Dragons!

Plus, Friday Assembly that morning at 8:30am will be in the Errol Schmidt Athletic Center (ESAC).  The varsity girls' and boys' basketball teams will be introduced to the students, demonstrate basketball skills/plays, and meet with students in multi-aged groups to learn more about one another.  The Little Dragon Cheerleaders will perform a dance routine, too.  Parents are welcome to join us and meet the basketball players!
