Saint George's Head of Upper School, Francesca Mulazzi, Ed.D, travelled to Red Lodge, Montana in July for the first "Sidecar Summit" of women leaders in international preK-12 education. She joined educators from Bolivia, Colombia, Jordan, Romania, The Netherlands and all four time zones of the U.S. They gathered to acknowledge the challenges of educational leadership in the era of COVID; recognize that the leadership landscape is at an inflection point for change; and brainstorm how this landscape can be ‘womanized’ so that school leaders (of all genders), their teams, and the school communities they serve can truly thrive.
"Sidecar Summit was the highlight of my summer and I look forward to attending next year, where ever we might land," says Francesca. "I will never again underestimate the power of gathering face to face." Read More about this inaugural summit in the mountains of Montana.

He scored sevens on the Biology and Chemistry exams, his two favorite classes, and a total of 40 out of 45 possible points in the IB exams. He is continuing his interest in those fields this summer through an internship with the Woodwell Climate Research Center in Falmouth, MA. Read the July 29 Article in the Spokesman to learn about the research projects he pursued at SGS and why he will be attending Dartmouth College this fall.

Several weeks after the 4th graders had left bags of leaves in the Little Spokane River, they collected their bags and looked for macroinvertibrates (bugs!) that they could identify. Different species indicate whether the river is healthy or not. See a Photo Gallery of them discovering all kinds of tiny critters!
The 5th graders designed containers and parachutes to protect their fresh eggs, then they dropped them onto the LS playground! See this Photo Gallery to find out which survived with the least damage!
The 7th graders built model rockets and then shot them skyward over the soccer field on June 2nd. See a Photo Gallery of the takeoffs (some were fast, some were duds) and the landings (some were soft and some were not)!
The Middle School students each completed a Genius Hour project this spring -- learning a new skill, working on a big project, or creating anything from video games to athletic shoes! They got to share, with students in-person and with family members via live stream, what they attempted, what worked, what didn't, and what they learned from it all. See a Photo Gallery of some of the presenters. And here are links to the presentations on May 24th, each about an hour long, from the 10 different groups of students:
