Parent Conferences This Week

October 30, 2017

Lower and Middle School parent conferences are this Thursday, Nov. 2 and Friday, Nov. 3.  There are no classes K-8 on either day.  The Upper School has classes on Thursday, then their own parent and student conferences with teachers on Friday, Nov. 3 only, so no Classes K-12 that day.  Thank you for participating in conferences and helping your student grow as a lifelong learner!

Throughout the fall, a wide range of universities visit Saint George’s School to meet with prospective students.  Representatives from a number of colleges and universities will be on campus in the next few days...

Friday, October 27 is a Teacher In-Service Day, so there will be no classes for all grades K-12.  Enjoy a long weekend and the beautiful fall colors!

Wednesday, October 11 was a busy day for the Middle and Upper Schools at SGS.  While the 6th and 7th graders had theme projects outside that morning, the 8th-11th graders took the PSAT test in Metters Gym.  Then all of them gathered for a delicious Oktoberfest lunch, followed by 10 different International Culture presentations by students and parents.  See photo galleries of the PSAT Testing, the Oktoberfest Lunch, and each of the International Day Presentations...

The Kindergarten and 6th grade classes teamed up on a science project last week.  After collecting simple and compound leaves from around campus, they gathered them onto two posters for display.  See a Photo Gallery of the students out collecting leaves and working on their displays...

The Lower School Chess Club started meeting last week, with beginners on Tuesdays after school and students who have competed in past tournaments on Thursdays after school.  Here is a Photo Gallery of coach James Stripes and the first group of competitors getting a feel for the game...

Chess Club Begins in October

The SGS Chess Club is open to grades 1-8 and meets once a week after school in the Lower School Multipurpose Room (downstairs next to 5th Grade) October through April.  Beginning Players meet Tuesdays from 3:15–4:15 pm beginning Oct. 3.  Advanced Players meet Thursdays from 3:15–4:30 pm beginning Oct. 5...

 

The sixth grade spent Sept. 22 riding along the Centennial Trail in the Spokane Valley, stopping to take water samples from the Spokane River to check for the river's health.  See a Photo Gallery of them...

Saint George's seniors Connor Cremers and Adit Arora have been named National Merit Commended Scholars, based on their Preliminary SAT scores from last year.  In addition, Connor has been named a Semifinalist in the National Merit Scholarship program...
