The annual SGS Ski Bus tradition happens one last time this winter on Friday, February 23.  This Outdoor Club bus to the Mt. Reserve your $7 tickets for the Spokane Chiefs game vs. Prince George in the Spokane Arena.  The game is Friday, Feb. 23 at 7pm, but you can order online at www.spokanechiefs.com under the "Groups 10+" tab (see Chiefs Flyer online).  tickets are open to students, parents, friends and family, but it's best to order early if you want a good seat...

The Dragons edged the Liberty Lancers 60-58 on a last-second layup by Erik Farias to win the NE 2B District Basketball Title at West Valley HS on Saturday, Feb. 17.  Ben Adams lead SGS with 18 points, and the undefeated Dragons advance to the regional round of the State Tournament.  They will play Toutle Lake at University HS at 2pm on Saturday, Feb. 24 (see Boys State Bracket).

The girls' basketball team won two loser-out games last week, winning the rubber match with Northwest Christian 42-39 and then topping Liberty 46-39 on Feb. 17.  The Dragons (18-6 overall) reached the regional round of State and will play Davenport at Medical Lake HS at 8pm on Friday, Feb. 23 (see Girls State Bracket).  Both teams will play at the Spokane Arena in the State 2B Tournament next week.  Go Dragons!

At 14 years old, SGS 9th grader John DeForest is fast on cross country skis.  He finished 3rd overall at the 2018 Langlauf ski race on Mt. Spokane on February 18.  He averaged 10 miles per hour to finish the 10 kilometer course in just 37:15, trailing only a seasoned triathlete and a former Olympian!  See John's quote and more about the race in the Spokesman's Monday Front Page Article.  Way to go, John!

The SGS Outdoor Club spent the weekend of Feb. 3-4 on Mt. Spokane building snow caves.  Here is a Time Lapse Video of how to build a snow cave in 3 minutes -- if you work very, very quickly!
