Saint George's golf team had a good tournament showing at Dominion Meadows in Colville on April 10.  Michael McCarthy shot a career best 3 over 75 and finished tied for 3rd in the tournament.  Maddy Christiansen shot 81 on the girls side to finish 2nd, and Taylor Mitchell shot 84 to finish 3rd.  "Weather was cold and wet but the team did a great job!" says coach Brad Kirsch.  

A week later on April 17 at Quail Ridge in Clarkston, the team faced tough, windy conditions.  Still, Maddy Christiansen tied for 1st and shot 88.  Taylor Mitchell got 3rd, shooting 94.  Alli Dixon competed in her first varsity tournament, and the girls’ team won the team title.  On the boys’ side, Jacob Whitman shot a career low 92.  Well done, Dragons!

The SGS Outdoor Club had a great time climbing at Smith Rocks State Park in Eastern Oregon over spring break.  See a Photo Gallery of their very impressive climbs on these beautiful rock formations...

SGS junior Erik Farias and senior Ceci Bergquist were voted post-season basketball honors by the Associated Press.  Farias was named to the 2B Boys First Team, while Bergquist received 2B Girls Honorable Mention status.  Go Dragons!

Dexter Sienko, SGS Class of 2014, completed a stellar four-year basketball career at Denver's Regis University this year, taking the Regis Rangers to the 2nd Round of the Division II Men's Basketball Tournament.  The 6'6" senior earned All-South Central Region 2nd Team honors from the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association.  He also was named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year after leading that league with 64 blocked shots.  A 1st Team All-Academic winner for three years, Dexter had a conference-best 58.1 shooting percentage and averaged 14.7 points per game.

An article in the Spokesman-Review noted, "This season the Rangers went 27-6, the second most wins in school history, finished second in the RMAC and won the conference tournament before 22nd-ranked Regis was eliminated in the second round of the South Central Regional in four overtimes.  Sienko had 26 points and team-highs of 12 rebounds and eight assists."  Congratulations, Dexter!

The SGS girls' varsity basketball team has combined video from their games, practices, and social gatherings into a fun review of their season.  See the Girls' Team Video and celebrate their successful season!

The Outdoor Club is leading a spring break trip April 2-6 to Smith Rocks in Eastern Oregon, a world-class climbing destination.  Students in grades 8-12 will experience all aspects of climbing, including top-roping, what it means to lead, and possibly bouldering.  See the Website Flyer for all the details.  Waivers will be on PowerSchool and students can sign up by filling out the waiver on PowerSchool and bringing in their payment to Melanie Mildrew by Tuesday, March 20.  Contact Melanie or Judson Ford for more information...

The Outdoor Club is offering a camping opportunity to Steamboat Rock State Park Campground for students in grades 5-7 on May 5-6.  Students will be introduced to basic camp craft skills and hiking in Northrup Canyon and Steamboat Rock.  This trip can accommodate up to 15 students, so if you are interested, please sign up quickly.  For more information, please see the Website Flyer...

SGS seniors Cade Peplinski and Ceci Bergquist were invited to play in the WIAA All-Star Basketball games in Western Washington on Saturday, March 17.  Cade and Ceci were part of 2B teams that took on 1B all-stars.  A fitting end to their very successful Dragon basketball careers!

The 8th grade boys' and girls' basketball teams hosted Deer Park in Metters Gym on Monday, March 12.  Both teams play their season in March.  See photo galleries of the Boys Team and the Girls Team in action on the hardwood...
