Saint George’s made it to the finals!  We are up against Lakeland Hawks in the final round of Dave Smith’s Spokane High School Mascot Challenge.  We are, however, behind by 138 votes.  It only takes one click to vote for our beloved Dragon Mascot.  Voting ends at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 10.  Please Click on This Link to vote for SGS and show Spokane who has the best mascot (and the most spirit)!

Spirit Week featured dress up days and lunchtime games in the Middle and Upper School, with an all-school Pep Rally on Friday, Oct. 5.  See videos of the Upper School's Hungry Hippos Game, the seniors winning at Human Foosball, and the Middle School's Faculty Lip Sync Competition (on scooters, no less!).  Then see a special Photo Gallery of when the entire SGS student body and faculty gathered on the ESAC Gym floor after the Spirit Week Pep Rally to spell out the best school in Spokane!  Go Dragons!

The SGS Annual Fund's 5-Week Parent Drive is here!  Your donation to the Annual Fund supports our students and teachers, helping SGS remain debt free, keeping tuition costs down, and providing the best possible education.  Parent donations are a vote of confidence in the school and our mission.  Our Annual Fund goal is $210,000 and we need your support.  Click Here to donate today!

Last year we increased parent participation from 57% to 75% and also had three classes at 100% parent participation for the first time ever.  This year we hope to increase parent participation to 80% and see at least three classes at 100%.  Keep an eye on the Parent Participation Sign by the bridge just past the Middle School for weekly updates on giving.  To learn more about the Annual Fund, please head to our FAQ Page or contact Sarah Berentson at sarah.berentson@sgs.org.  Together we can #Powerthedragon

Thanks to a gift from Manny and Vange Hochheimer, any parents or faculty and staff who donate to the Annual Fund within the first week of the 5-week parent drive, will be entered to win 4 tickets (premium eye level mid-field) to the 11/23 (Friday after Thanksgiving) Apple Cup between the Washington State University Cougars and the University of Washington Huskies at 5:30PM at Martin Stadium in Pullman. Along with the 4 premium seating game tickets, you will also receive a AA VIP Lot Parking Pass as well as 4 VIP Cougar Den Passes that includes unlimited food, wine, beer, and top shelf drinks for both pre-game and half-time use! To make a donation, go to www.sgs.org/give or contact our Annual Fund Director, Sarah Berentson (sarah.berentson@sgs.org) for a donation envelope. If you have already donated to the 2018-19 Power the Dragon Annual Fund, you will automatically be entered into the drawing.

Construction on a new playground structure for the Lower School was completed on October 4 and the teachers wasted no time in cutting the security tape and welcoming the students onto the new steel structure!  See a Photo Gallery of the happy occasion.

October 1-6 is Spirit Week leading up to the Homecoming soccer games and Homecoming Dance this Saturday, Oct. 6.  Dress up themes for the week include PJ Day (Monday), Tourist (Tue.), Wacky (Wed.), Jersey (Thu.), and Color Day (Fri.) for the Pep Rally first thing that morning in ESAC Gym.  The Dragons host Stillwater Christian at 10am Saturday (girls) and Noon (boys), so come cheer on both 2017 State Finalist soccer teams.  Go Dragons!

SGS 10th grader Alex Gustafson made it all the way through the 4-H county competitions to the semi-finals for Washington State on Sept. 22, where she earned a perfect score of 100% that qualified her for the finals on Sunday, Sept. 23.  She received a 97% score in knowledge and modeling in the Finals, just missing the Grand Champion award!  This 4-H competition looks at students' knowledge of sewing, how the garmet fits, and how they model it.  Good job, Alex!

Kudos to Lindsey Thomsen '02, a pediatric nurse practitioner at Seattle Children's Hospital, for turning into Dr. Meredith Grey of Grey's Anatomy fame for a day to help a girl get through an unpleasant procedure.  Read about this real-life star on the Seattle Chidren's Website
